How we’re helping keep families together

Kids to Love team members attended the ribbon cutting Tuesday for the first house in a new program that will help keep families together in the Birmingham area.

Safe Houses of Birmingham is a program launched by Rebirth Community Corporation in partnership with Christian Service Mission and Rebirth Christian Fellowship. It will provide affordable long-term housing and free temporary housing for people escaping domestic violence, as well as transitional housing for people in need and affordable housing for low-income renters.

Kids to Love donated 56 lots in the Birmingham area to this program for more homes to be built. Rebirth plans to build and renovate homes in the neighborhood, as well as create a community garden and have a center for services that will include mental health counseling and workforce development.

It’s an exciting project being led by people who are dedicated to helping others, and we can’t wait to see where it goes!
