Kids to Love Celebrates 2026 Scholars at Annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon

07/28/2026

For more than two decades, Kids to Love has invested in the dreams of young adults who have experienced foster care through its scholarship program. This year’s Annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon continued that tradition by celebrating the 2026 scholarship recipients and the bright futures that lie ahead.

The luncheon brought together scholars, donors, family members, volunteers, and community partners to recognize the hard work and determination of students pursuing college degrees, trade certifications, and career training. Each scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It is an investment in a young person’s future and a reminder that they have a community cheering them on every step of the way.

The luncheon began with a warm welcome from Lee Marshall before recognizing the 2026 scholarship recipients and celebrating the dedication that brought each of them to this important milestone.

One of the most memorable moments of the luncheon came from guest speaker Ja’Cobie Edwards, whose journey is a powerful example of the impact these scholarships can have.

After experiencing foster care himself, Ja’Cobie received support through Kids to Love’s scholarship program to earn the certifications needed to pursue his dream of becoming a firefighter. Today, he proudly serves the Huntsville community as a firefighter, using his experiences to encourage the next generation of young adults who are working toward their own goals.

His message reminded this year’s scholars that while the road ahead may not always be easy, they already possess the resilience, determination, and strength needed to succeed.

Since launching its scholarship program in 2005, Kids to Love has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to young adults who have experienced foster care. The program helps remove financial barriers by covering tuition, books, certification costs, tools, and other educational expenses, allowing students to focus on building successful careers and independent lives.

Whether pursuing a university degree, attending technical school, or earning industry certifications, each scholar is taking an important step toward a brighter future. Kids to Love is honored to walk alongside them on that journey.

Congratulations to our 2026 scholars. We can’t wait to see all you accomplish!
