Lee Marshall, our founder and CEO, was selected as one of the five distinguished honorees of the 24th Annual Women Honoring Women (WHW) event, the signature fundraising celebration of the WEDC Foundation. The celebration will take place Thursday at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
The Women Honoring Women event recognizes women whose leadership and service have created lasting legacies in the community and inspired others to reach higher. Through WHW, the WEDC Foundation honors current leaders like Lee while empowering the next generation through its mission of supporting women’s educational and professional development.
Marshall joins four other incredible women — Veronica A. Cram, Dr. Annie Saylor, Dr. Patricia G. Sims, and Kathi Tew — as this year’s honorees, celebrated for their achievements in fields ranging from entrepreneurship and education to nonprofit innovation and institutional leadership.
For Lee, the recognition is both an honor and a testament to the mission she began in 2004, motivated by her own adoption story and commitment to helping children find loving and stable families. Her work has grown from launching Kids to Love out of her garage to impacting tens of thousands of lives through housing, education, job training, and support services for foster youth.
“I know what it means for a child to be given a chance,” Marshall said. “Being honored alongside these incredible women is a reminder that our stories and the way we use them to serve can change lives.”
