02/12/2026

Opening your home to a child in foster care is a meaningful decision—one that can change a child’s life and your own. If you’ve ever thought about fostering but weren’t sure where to start, our upcoming MAPP Foundations class is designed for you.
What Is MAPP Foundations?
MAPP (Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting) Foundations is a required 10-week training course for prospective foster parents. This course equips you with the knowledge, skills, and realistic expectations needed to care for children in the foster care system.
Foster care is about more than providing a safe place to stay—it’s about understanding trauma, supporting healing, and partnering with agencies and families to serve the best interests of each child. MAPP Foundations helps prepare you for all of this and more.
What You’ll Learn
During the course, participants will:
-
Learn how the foster care system works
-
Understand the impact of trauma and loss on children
-
Develop practical parenting strategies
-
Learn how to respond to children’s emotional and behavioral needs
-
Explore how to support reunification and permanency plans
You’ll also have opportunities to ask questions, hear real-life scenarios, and connect with others who are on the same journey.

Why Foster?
Children in foster care need safe, caring adults who can provide stability during uncertain times. Foster parents play a vital role in helping children feel secure, valued, and supported.
You don’t have to be perfect—you just have to be willing to learn, grow, and show up for a child who needs you.
Take the Next Step
If you’re ready to explore foster care, now is the time. Signing up for MAPP Foundations doesn’t commit you to fostering, but it does give you the information and preparation needed to make an informed decision.
Register today for orientation and begin the journey toward making a lasting difference in a child’s life.
