We’re getting close to the deadline for TIPS class signups! Orientations in Madison County, Mobile County, and the Shoals will start in less than two weeks! 

Children who come into foster care have unique needs and challenges. TIPS, which stands for Trauma-Informed Partnering for Safety, gives parents the tools they need to address those needs and challenges. 

TIPS will teach you the impacts of trauma, abuse, neglect, and separation on children. It will give you insight into behaviors and emotions that children may show when they come into your home. 

TIPS emphasizes the importance of building positive and trusting relationships with the children you welcome into your home. Through the program, families learn effective communication techniques and strategies to build that strong connection the children in your care need to thrive and reach their full potential. 

In addition to learning how to work with children in the foster care system, families learn about how the foster care system itself works. TIPS teaches about the legal processes and procedures of foster care, reunification and adoption. That way, foster families can be good advocates for their children. 

Sign up using the form here! We have TIPS classes scheduled in Madison County, Mobile, and the Shoals. Classes are once a week for 10 weeks, and each class is 3 hours. Here are the important dates:

Madison TIPS Training
Orientation: July 31, 2023
Class Dates: 6-9 p.m. every Monday from Aug. 14, 2023, until Oct. 30, 2023 (No class Labor Day, Sept. 4)

Class Dates: 6-9 p.m. every Thursday from Aug. 17, 2023, until Oct. 19, 2023

Shoals TIPS Training
Orientation: Aug. 1, 2023
Class Dates: 6-9 p.m. Every Tuesday from Aug. 15, 2023 until Oct. 17, 2023
