Welcome our new Mental Wellness Center director!

11/07/2023

Everyone say hi to Kathryn Hall!

Kate is the new Executive Director of the Smith Family Wellness Center, home of the Grant Hill Trauma Team. She started this week and is getting settled in.

“I am incredibly excited and honored to join the Kids to Love team as the Executive Director of the Smith Family Wellness Center,” Kate said. “This organization’s dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of children and families resonates deeply with my own passion and commitment. I have seen firsthand the profound difference that therapy can make in the lives of children, and I am overjoyed to help further Kids to Love’s vision for the Wellness Center. It will truly change the lives of so many children in this community!”

Kate got her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Alabama in 2017 and has been working with children in various roles ever since.

Most recently, Kate worked for the National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) as a Child Forensic Interview Coordinator and Specialist. She also served as a therapist, helping children heal from trauma and find their voices. While at the NCAC, Kate also developed and provided trainings in the community to improve child abuse response and worked with a robust multi-disciplinary team including child welfare, law enforcement, medical professionals, and district attorneys.

Kate’s dedication to helping children heal and thrive has led her to master various therapeutic approaches. She is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), TraumaPlay, Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and is a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor.

We already have a fantastic group of therapists, and Kate is a great addition to the team! Our Mental Wellness Center is still under construction, but we are already meeting the needs of the kids in our care. We’re excited to keep growing and expanding the ways we serve children!
