We’re getting close, but we still need school supply help!

We’re in full swing on our More Than a Backpack campaign and could still use some help!

We provide backpacks for thousands of children in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi, and we couldn’t do it without our volunteer groups and the donations that come in. Each child who needs it will get a backpack that has the school supplies they will need when they go back to school in August.

The program is called More Than a Backpack because for a lot of children in foster care, the backpack they receive will stay with them as they move. Many children who come into foster care have to carry whatever personal items they’re allowed to take in a trash bag. Our backpacks will not only get them ready for school — they give them a dignified way to carry their personal belongings when they move.

First of all, we always need donations. Right now we need scientific calculators, backpacks in girl colors and 1-inch 3-ring binders the most! Follow us on Facebook or Instagram, because we post specific needs there often.

You can buy supplies and bring them to us at the Kids to Love Center at 140 Castle Drive in Madison. We also have the best partner, CB&S Bank, and they are accepting donations at all of their bank branches! You can also leave donations at Mix 96.9’s studios 8402 Memorial Pkwy SW in Huntsville, and at Rosenblum Realty, located at 2314 Memorial Pkwy SW in Huntsville.

If you can’t get out to the store or it’s just easier to shop online, go for it! We have our Click, Ship, and Give program that allows you to buy supplies and send them directly to us. You just go to our Amazon wishlist and buy whatever’s there!

Another way to get donations for us is to Host a Drive at your workplace or church! We love when businesses band together for a good cause.

School will be back in session before you know it, so help us make sure our kids are prepared!
