What a difference 19 years makes!
19 years ago this month I was invited to sing at the Capitol in Montgomery for the Adoption Month Celebration.
I met 6-year-old Aimee that day. She, like me, was adopted. We took this picture.
This was 2 months before we launched the Kids to Love Foundation. We would use this picture in our first brochure. I’ve kept up with Aimee and the entire Breland Bunch ever since.
Last night after the football game in West Morgan, we are walking out and I see Aimee! 19 years later! Now, she’s 25. She’s finished her bachelors in Christian Science and working toward her Master of Theological Studies with a concentration in Discipleship.
Aimee is a success from a statistic! She was born a fetal alcohol baby. But with the love, support and nurturing of her adopted parents Johnna and Rodney, she was the first of her siblings to graduate college! She is an ambassador for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also a Personal Care Assistant for two of her siblings Bobby and Christin.
The Brelands have 13 children; 11 are adopted. Talk about a family that are Angels Among Us!
